A Bar chart is used to display grouped data with rectangular bars where the height of the bar is proportional to the value of the metric

To create a Bar chart

  • Ensure you are on a dashboard (not created from a template).

  • Click on the menu located in the top-right corner of the screen.

  • Select 'Add Visualization' -> 'Create new gadget.'

  • In the 'Create new gadget' window, select 'Bar' as the gadget type.

  • Enter a name for the Bar chart gadget

  • To display an existing metric, click on 'Add Metric' and choose from the list of pre-defined metrics.

  • Alternatively, you can create a new metric specifically for this gadget by clicking on 'Create Single-use Metric.'

  • Choose the dimension by which you want to group the data. For example, we're displaying total miles for driver managers.

  • Toggle on the 'Sort by' setting and choose the desired sort order to arrange the bars in the bar chart

  • If you wish to compare multiple metrics side by side, you can add more metrics to the Bar chart.

  • Set the default date range for your bar gadget using the date picker

  • If you want to set up a report to drill down to from this gadget, select a report from the dropdown located in the top-right corner.

  • Once you've configured the default date scope, run time filters & scope filters, click 'Save'.

  • The Bar chart gadget will be added to the bottom of your dashboard. Scroll down if needed to re-position and resize the gadget as required.
