A Time Series chart is used to display how metric(s) perform over time. It helps in monitoring and analyzing data trends over time



To create a Time Series chart

  • Ensure you are on a dashboard (not created from a template).

  • Click the menu located in the top-right corner of the screen.

  • Select 'Add Visualization' -> 'Create new gadget'


  • In the 'Create new gadget' window, select 'Time Series' as the gadget type.


  • Enter a name for the Time Series chart gadget.

  • To display an existing metric, click on 'Add Metric' and choose from the list of pre-defined metrics.

  • Alternatively, you can create a new metric specifically for this gadget by clicking on 'Create Single-use Metric.'

  • Select the interval (e.g., weeks) for trending the chosen metric(s).


  • Set the default date range for your Time Series chart using the date picker

If you've selected 'hour' as the interval, select a query date from the date picker that has a timestamp, so that you can see hourly data



  • To display the comparison period on the graph, select the desired comparison option from the dropdown.


  • If you wish to set up a report to drill down to from this gadget, select a report from the dropdown located in the top-right corner.

  • Once you've configured the default date scope, run time filters & scope filters, click 'Save'.

  • The Time Series gadget will be added to the bottom of your dashboard. Scroll down if needed to re-position and resize the gadget as required.

Plotting a metric grouped by a dimension over time

Note: This feature is only supported for plotting one metric. If you've added more than one metric, grouping by a dimension will not be available.

To plot a metric grouped by a dimension over time:

  • Select the field that you want to group by under 'Dimension B' as shown below

  • For example, you can plot 'Total Miles' for each unit div over time.
