Edit matrix gadgets

How to access matrix gadget settings to rename metrics, add or remove metrics, and change sort order.

The option to edit your gadget settings, lets you make common changes to gadgets. This article looks at a matrix gadget as an example of what settings are available and how to configure them.

With the gadgets settings you can for instance:

  • Change the display name of a metric

  • Add a new metric or remove a metric

  • Change the default sort order.

To access gadget settings:

  • Open the dashboard with a matrix gadget you need to edit

  • From the gadget's menu that appears on hover over, click 'Edit Filters'

The panel on the left lets you do the following:

  1. Change display name on metrics

  2. Reorder metrics by dragging and dropping them on the list

  3. Delete metric by clicking on the 'X' icon next to each metric. This will remove the column from a matrix gadget

  4. Click the metric dropdown to change the selected metric or edit the metric settings

  • Use the 'Sort by' toggle to sort the matrix gadget by a specific metric, for example Total Trucks. Scroll down to the 'Sort by' settings to specify the order in which you would like to sort. (ascending, descending)

  • Use the 'Dimensions' dropdown to change the field that you want to group by.

  • To enable the comparison cell on a metric, select the desired option from the 'Cell comparison' dropdown.

  • In case of a large number of rows, you can limit them. We usually limit the number of rows to 1,000.

  • You can also edit the default date filters, scope & run time filters from this pop-up.

  • To save the edits to your gadget, make sure to click 'Save'.

The safest way to try out these options is to create a copy of a dashboard which you wish to edit and test the changes on the copy.
